Takeshi Onaga : ウィキペディア英語版 | Takeshi Onaga
is a Japanese politician and the current governor of Okinawa Prefecture in Japan. He also served four terms as mayor of Naha, the capital city of the prefecture.〔(The new governor of Okinawa Takeshi Onaga ), ''ABC Australia'', November 17, 2014.〕 He was elected to the governorship on a platform opposing the relocation of Marine Corps Air Station Futenma within Okinawa, and has been a strident opponent of the base's continued presence in the prefecture, which is supported by both the Japanese and American governments. In October 2015, Onaga revoked the land reclamation permit needed for continued work on the base.〔NHK World Newsline, October 13 2015.〕 == References ==
